Because Himalayan Rock Salt Lamps are made entirely form salt they do need some care to maintain their natural beauty.  These lamps have come from salt ranges that were formed millions of years ago and have been compacted to become a rock like structures.  They are very durable and will last you last many many years with the right care and maintenance.

As salt does, your Himalayan Salt Lamp will attract moisture out of the air.  This is all part of the ionizing process, and there is nothing to worry about.  If the lamp has not been turned on for some time you will find moisture on and/or around the lamp.

Cleaning: 
If your salt lamp becomes dusty or dirty you can gently wipe the lamp with a damp cotton cloth.  Do not wash with excess water as this can dissolve the lamp.

Placement: 
You can use your Himalayan Salt Lamp in any room of the house so long as it is away from excess moisture, i.e. bathroom. They make an incredible night light and will assist sleeping patterns.  Do not leave outdoors!!

When to use: 
Himalayan Salt Lamps should be turned on when the weather is particularly humid or wet.  This will help negate the appearance of moisture to the lamp due to the heat.  Otherwise, use the lamp whenever you want to create a beautifully relaxed atmosphere.

When not in use:  If the lamp is not going to be turned on for days on end we recommend storing the lamp in a plastic bag. This will stop the lamp attracting moisture.
