The words were spoken by Dr Lim Siow Jin, who heads up a Malaysian company which markets a capsule containing mushroom concentrate. The capsules do not cure any ailment, but assist the body in preventing ailments developing.
It’s a food, not a medicine,” local distributor Chris Morris said. “It’s about bringing the body back to It’s natural balance to heal itself.” The capsules, made by Dr Lim’s company DXN, which is listed on the Malaysian Stock Exchange, are a compound of the six most-potent mushrooms for the ganoderma family.
“The mushrooms are very rare; they’re found growing on dead palms in parts of Asia,” Mr Morris said. “Maybe two mushrooms may be found on 10,000 trees.” Dr Lim, a PhD from the Indian Board of Alternative Medicine and an Albert Schweizer Medal winner for his capsules, started researching mushrooms 20 years ago. His company listed in Malaysia on the strength of the product and is now one of its largest capitalised companies.
“The capsules have been on sale for three years in Australia, and going brilliantly,” Mr Morris said. “We began marketing the product in Nambour three years ago. “There’s about 6000 customers in Australia, out of 2.2 million worldwide. “And the product is approved by Australia’s Therapeutic Goods Administration the toughest in the world,” Mr Morris said.
