The Magic Mushroom - Ganoderma is a type of mushroom known in the Far East for thousands of years for its effectiveness in treating a broad range of maladies "miraculously". In some cases, Ganoderma is treated as a "miracle herb" due to historical events in ancient China that mentioned its ability to attain immortality. One of the most remarkable events is a recorded list of the greatest herbs of all time by Seng-Nung back in B.C. 2838 in China. In his book, The Four-Canons of Seng-Nung, he recorded Reishi or Lingzhi as the most valuable herb followed by Ginseng.

The Chinese have always regarded the Ganoderma mushroom as having special properties. These mushrooms are regarded as “ Spirit Medicine “ considered among the most powerful natural healing herbs in Asia. Ganoderma has been used in traditional Chinese medicine for more than 4,000 years, and was highly prized as an elixir of immortality. One of the oldest recorded botanical monographs has claimed that the Ganoderma mushroom made the body lighter, which may refer to its ability to reduce cholesterol and blood lipid level.

Ganoderma has been shrouded with a mysterious curtain for more than a thousand years. It was commonly known that ‘‘Ganoderma kept one young and gave one long life if taken continuously”, but no one had ever scientifically investigated why it is so effective. Under the attentive research done by both Chinese and other scholars in recent years, and with the cooperative analysis and clinical experiments done by hospitals, colleges, and pharmaceutical manufacturers, its extensive efficacy has finally been discovered.
It is an anti-inflammatory, detoxicant, diuretic, liver protector, increases energy levels, intestine regulator, increases libido, helps with sleeping disorders, cardiotonic, blood pressure adjustor, a cold tonic, antitussive, hemocatheresis and expectorant, a tranquilliser and helps protect against any tumour activity.

Ganoderma is a traditional tonic used to nourish, tonify, and supplement the whole body as it removes toxins and disperses accumulation. It calms and nourishes the nervous system, strengthens the lungs (good for asthma sufferers), protects and stimulates the liver, also helps the body adapt to stress, its even known to help some people with hair regeneration and regaining hair colour. Ganoderma has also been known to re-activate the pancreas to secrete insulin in some type2-diabetes sufferers. Ganoderma can also function as insulin. Whereas taking insulin ordinarily will not do this, and in fact may accelerate the ageing of the organ, Ganoderma will help retard its ageing with no adverse side effects.

Ganoderma is rich in active organic compounds, which are still being studied for their positive effects on the immune system, and is in a class of immune system regulators and stress adaptogens that includes Astragalus, Schizandra, Codonopsis and Ginseng.
